Massachusetts native Aaron Thurston is a drummer known for his tasteful, understated musicianship. He has toured more than 25 countries as a U.S. Dept. of State Jazz Ambassador, leading his own group, and playing in the bands of pianists Matt Ray and Richard Doron Johnson. In the mid-2000's, Aaron was a touring member of NYC indie rock darlings French Kicks (“Beguilingly honest tunes" - Pitchfork; “Gritty, hook-filled fun" - L.A. Times.) With this band, Aaron honed an approach of using samples and drums in a live setting, which led to a completely new approach to their stage show, based on Aaron playing the recorded parts of multiple musicians at once. Currently, Aaron works in Kat Edmonson's band, playing drums/percussion, and collaborating on arrangements. He acted as associate producer on Edmonson's critically-acclaimed 2018 album, “Old Fashioned Gal.” Aaron is a premiere talent booker for private events. His agency, Lucy Music, represents acclaimed NYC-based bands, including Baby Soda Jazz Band, and Aaron's own '80's dance cover band, The Engagements.
